If You’re Heading to The Pain-Free Zone, How About A LIFT?

This is becoming a frequent request of our patients here at Advanced Spine and Pain. Patients are discovering that the LIFT procedure or Lateral Interspinous Fusion Therapy, is in many cases a wonderful alternative to traditional back surgery.

Generally, as part of the aging process and normal wear and tear, there is some level of degeneration that occurs in the spine. The height of spinal discs can diminish over time providing less cushion at the spine, osteophytes or bone spurs can develop, and loss of cartilage and thickening of ligaments can also occur. These things when added together can cause instability of the spine.

Instability can cause significant pain in the low back, hips, buttocks, down the legs, and into the feet. A traditional remedy for this would be a lumbar fusion where rods and screws are placed to improve the stability of the spine. A sleeker and less invasive remedy would be a LIFT procedure.

During this procedure, a small incision is made on the side of the patient, and state-of-the-art equipment is used to gain access to the spine. With this lateral approach, bone, ligament, nerves, and muscles are spared cutting, and therefore much less pain is experienced, and quicker recovery is the obvious result for the patient.

If you are looking for a guided tour of the pain-free zone, let us give you a LIFT. Please visit our LIFT treatment page for more information and talk to your ASAP pain practitioners to see if a LIFT procedure is right for you.
