CBD is Now Available at ASAP!
CBD’s growing use by patients has been a tricky subject for pain management practices including Advanced Spine and Pain.
For some time now, we have allowed the use of CBD gummies, oils, and creams, if the patient’s periodic urine screens did not test positive for THC. THC is a psychoactive chemical and is still considered an illegal substance federally. ASAP is monitored by the DEA, a federal agency, so the use of products containing more than trace amounts of THC while being prescribed opioids at ASAP is not currently allowed both due to federal law and that studies about the interaction between THC and opioids are still emerging.
ASAP recognizes that some of our patients want a CBD treatment option; however, CBD products from various sources branded as THC-free have caused patients’ urine screens to test positive. Therefore, ASAP researched the available CBD products on the market to determine if there are options that will not result in positive THC urine screens.
Two of these products, Discovery and Medosi, have emerged as winners! Both have been third-party and ASAP-tested, and urine screens have been clean, detecting no evidence of THC. This can give both patient and provider peace of mind as repeat THC findings in the urine can lead to the discontinuation of opioids in the treatment of pain.
Please talk to your Advanced Spine and Pain practitioner as CBD has shown promise in the treatment of pain, anxiety, sleep, muscle spasticity, and may even reduce blood pressure. As a result, at ASAP we are high on . . . or rather we are pro-CBD. Discovery and Medosi CBD products (free from all but trace amounts of THC) are now available at ASAP and can effectively complement the treatment of your symptoms.
