One of my more memorable patients was a 50-year-old male who was an Aerospace Engineer.
He had been extremely active, and we had similar interests. Like me, he loved the outdoors including mountain biking! He had severe medical issues including advanced neck and low back degeneration. The patient had been ramped up on doses of opioid medication to control the pain. Because of the side effects of the opioids, his quality of life had diminished, limiting him in his activities.
When I met him for the first time, we developed a plan to decrease his opioids and help him regain control of his life. Through procedures including radiofrequency ablation and medical devices (Intrathecal Pump), we were able to minimize his medications and he resumed his active lifestyle including mountain biking with his friends and family. It was rewarding to see him re-engage in the lifestyle he loved. At Advanced Spine and Pain, we’re passionate about our job because it changes lives for the better!
